I cam across this book in a second hand book store, it was written by the children's author Enid Blyton in 1941. I read a lot of Enid Blyton books as a child, though I can't recall ever coming across this one. But then I had no idea how prolific she was as a writer until I did some research on this book. I hope I'm not breaching any copy write by putting the book on my blog, but when I read it I thought what a perfect story book it was for us pattern designers and just wanted to share it.
The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery recently had an exhibition called Pattern Play. It seems that patterns are very popular these days.
I recently had a fabulous time learning to paint abstract florals at the Longina Phillips Design Studio in Sydney. At the moment I can only dream about painting with the same skill the Longina Phillips designers have, they were awesome. But practice makes perfect right! I ended up with a not too bad piece of art for the wall and something that could definitely be turned into a repeat pattern.
