The Beautiful Pattern by Enid Blyton

I cam across this book in a second hand book store, it was written by the children's author Enid Blyton in 1941.  I read a lot of Enid Blyton books as a child, though I can't recall ever coming across this one.  But then I had no idea how prolific she was as a writer until I did some research on this book. I hope I'm not breaching any copy write by putting the book on my blog, but when I read it I thought what a perfect story book it was for us pattern designers and just wanted to share it.

Abstract florals at Longina Phillips Designs

I recently had a fabulous time learning to paint abstract florals at the Longina Phillips Design Studio in Sydney.  At the moment I can only dream about painting with the same skill the Longina Phillips designers have, they were awesome.  But practice makes perfect right!  I ended up with a not too bad piece of art for the wall and something that could definitely be turned into a repeat pattern.

There were lots of art supplies.

The final art work.  I chose my favourite flowers to collage to make the design.  This takes the pressure off trying to paint one perfect piece.
